So I was able to get Mario Galaxy today (the release day) and it is awesome. I went to K-Mart and they didn't have it (or didn't have it out-they never actually have anyone in electronics you can talk to). Then i went to Best Buy and they also didn't have it. I was going to go to Wal-Mart next since I figured Game Stop probably would've only gotten enough to cover pre-orders, but I figured 'what the hell, I'm right next door' so I went in and didn't see any. It was ever so sad. Then as I was leaving I heard a woman go up to the counter and ask what a good game for wii would be and the guy showed her Mario. Turns out they had a whole stack of them, they just had them back behind the counter where you couldn't see them and wouldn't know they were there. Stupid. So I bought one and am now blissfully wasting my day off playing wii. Yay for me!

Yes, I know it is quite nerdy, but I am super excited that Super Mario Galaxy finally comes out next week. I love mario games and everything I hear says this one will be great as well. Now I just have to hope it doesn't sell out...that'd piss me off to no end. Also exciting is that while I wasn't looking the new version of Football/Worldwide Soccer Manager (or 'my soccer game' to Tori) was released! Yay for new games!

I answer with the usual "Custom Design Label" and the lady on the other end says (I kid you not), "Is this Costco?" Kind of taken aback, I ask her what she said, at which point she repeats her question. I tell her that I'm sorry but she has the wrong number and we hang up. So I get off the phone and am thinking about what a moron the woman is. I mean seriously, if I work for Costco why in the hell would I answer the phone "Custom Design Label"? Just to mess with her? I am just completing my thought (no more than 5 seconds after hanging up) when the phone rings again. I look at the ID and....yep, it is dumbass again. <lj:music>some absolutely awful song on the tv</lj:music>

So the other night my good friend Mr. S-Dizzle and I ventured off to the big MC Chris show (the doodlbug was unfortunately unable to attend because of illness). One cool thing about the show is that is was absolutely free-I picked up the tickets at a radio station (they were just giving them out) and we even found a free parking spot 20 feet from the venue. The parking spot was a miracle, as for those who have not been to Salt Lake City at night, especially when there's a show, there is absolutely NO parking. Anyway, it was in this tiny side room at the Lo-Fi Cafe as the main room was filled with nu-metal freaks who were there for the transplanted Seether/30 Seconds to Mars show (pity them). So we were packed like sardines into this tiny room, but it was probably for the best as there were only about 100 people there so it made it seem crowded.

Anyway, as for the show, we got there about 3/4 of the way through the seconf of two openers, a band known as SNMNMNM. They seemed entertaining, the music was good, the instrumentation unique (guitars, drums, keys, trumpet, tuba, accordions, etc, etc, etc), but where we were standing for their set (in the very back) you could not understand one word the singer said. Even between songs it was just a jumbled mess. But like i said, the music was fun, so I'll have to find them on the net and give them a listen. As for the main course, MC Chris came out with his "dj" in all his nerdy glory. I use the term dj loosely as it was just a dude who hit play on his iBook and then stood there while MC Chris rapped along. Anyway, for the unitiated, MC Chris is a rapper who gained minor fame as MC Pee Pants/Sir Loin on Aqua Teen Hunger Force (Sundays, Cartoon Network). He is this short, pudgy, nerdy white guy with a high pitched voice who raps about things geeky and absurd. The songs are quite entertaining as well as ridiculous and humorous. Chris came out with a wicked cold or flu or something and struggled between every song. Amazingly, he made it through nearly every song without a hitch which was quite impressive considering his non-stop, very fast style. Between songs, when not coughing up a lung, he delivered some amusing banter. Comments ranged from listing video games he was excited about and his tour stops at Gamestop to the scale model of Mt. Vernon he built for his nuts to live in (I kid you not). There was also a lot of banter between random people yelling in the crowd and him, much like with a stand up comic, and in that fashion, MC Chris promptly put them in their place. All in all a very amusing and entertaining experience, and a show that comes highly recommended to all.

Pros:
+Hilarious
+He is actually a good rapper, it was cool to hear him go
+Worth going just to see the crowd; it ranged from metalheads to punkers with hawks to mods to computer nerds obviously at their first show
+Did I mention it was hilarious?

Cons:
-He was sick
-Bumhugs standing next to me (why do they always end up standing next to me? It's like I send out invitations or something!!!)

Overall: A

ps-the MC has a lj here: microtrash

On one hand, I was saddened that someone with that small of a grasp on the English language can actually make it into college; on the other hand, she obviously needs all the schooling she can get, so it did my heart good to see her go off to college.

PS-Helpful hint of the day: Don't get the bird flu.

    <lj:music>Love, love me do....</lj:music>

So I'm not really sure why I'm posting this here as NO ONE reads this journal (not even doodlbug who is the one who made me start this in the first place!) but here goes anyway:

First of all, I went to the Bouncing Souls show last night with my exceptionally awesome girlfriend and it was a great show as usual. The opening bands were both very good, and despite some minor audio problems, the Souls were amazing (as usual, as I said).

Pluses:
+All bands were very good (Loved Ones, Street Dogs, and the Souls)
+Crowd was wild and fun but not the usual SLC excessively violent, just to be violent crowd
+Got out of there in a hurry for a change

Minuses:
-Some audio problems
-Should have been in the venue portion of the club, rather than the bar, it was PACKED
-EXTREMELY hot in there
-Souls set, while good, was very short

Overall, a very fun show...I'll give it 8 1/2 out of 10 woo woo

So then we came home and (eventually) went to sleep---let me just add that staying up chatting until after 4 am will generally screw up your sleep patterns. When I woke up this morning I could remember (at least in general) two of my dreams, which is odd as I rarely, if ever, remember dreams. The first involved me (or someone whose thoughts I could read) going through various schemes in order to gain free tickets to a baseball game. The one I remember most (and most off the wall) was where I dressed up as a wall similar to Fenway's Green Monster and blended in with an outside wall. The costume consisted of a GIANT piece of plywood, spraypainted green, and with a face hole cut out of it. For some reason I could be in the stadium far enough to do this but not enough to get in. Anyway, I used to costume to somehow convince this guy to give me his tix (don't remember the exact story) which were in an urban park area (complete with gutters) WAY out in right field. The other dream was even more bizarre as I was somewhere in the midwest in some school. There then was a law passed outlawing all homosexuals from school and for some reason I was the only one who would/could try to comfort them. Everyone else seemed to hate them and were trying to run them off or something. And no, none of them were hitting on me or trying to get on me or anything like that. It was nothing sexual. Just before you even start. However, if this country keeps going the way it is going, perhaps it is a sign of things to come?

Finally, I woke up and went to work and about 3 this afternoon a song popped into my head. And what else would it be but...."Love Me Do" by the Beatles???? I can't even remember the last time I heard that song, and yet there it was running through my head. Very random. I think between that and my dreams that my mind is trying to tell me something. Like that I'm going crazy. Or maybe I am already! ;)

[This is a repost of an entry I left on one of my other blogs: Mr. T Will Throw You!, but without the link to an article on the proposal and some other minor details cuz I'm lazy]

So we all know that a repudlickan party cornerstone is the pro-life agenda. This obviously means that they would prefer unwanted children to just be born and then (more than likely) be placed into a state run foster care system, many of whom would be there for indefinite amounts of time. Right?
Meanwhile, just a day or two ago I read an opinion piece by some conservative wacko (is there any other kind of conservative in this country? Didn't think so) blasting the public schools in New Orleans, partially blaming the Katrina disaster on them, but as anyone who pays any attention knows, public schools anywhere are a popular target for repudlickans. So of course, he was gung ho for a bushler proposal to provide $500 million in private school vouchers to Katrina victims. Of course, this short sighted view fails to take into account the massive amounts of good that $500 million could do for the PUBLIC (public: accessible to or shared by all members of the community) schools in the area, you know, the ones who don't collect tuition and actually NEED the money. Then maybe the private schools wouldn't even be needed since the public schools would be so good! But I digress.
So what exactly is the correllation here? Well, I'm glad you asked. Let's see-the repudlickans seem to think that gov't sponsored public schools are inept at best (which if they are, they can often blame themselves due to their policies that range from underfunding-see Utah's underfunded public education system-to just plain useless, wasteful, and expensive programs like No Child (unless he, you know, is) Left Behind). So if government programs cannot be counted on to educate our children, why can they count on them to not only educate but to RAISE them as well? Short answer: THEY CAN'T.

I am totally, madly in love with my girlfriend. It is kind of weird to me as I have never been even close to feeling like this before. I honestly want to curl up in her arms and never leave them. Ever. Every time I see her it gets harder to leave. I miss her immediately upon leaving her. There is something about her, something special that I have never found in anyone else. It's like I've known her forever, not just 2 months. She is a part of me. She understands me. She "gets" me. We share a special connection...our minds are linked at some deeper level. It is almost creepy sometimes. But it is good, beyond good really. Beyond great. I love her, I need her. Every day I thank god for bringing her to me. And now that I have her, I don't plan on letting her go. I love you Tori!
